SFYHA families,

I would like to start by saying thank you to everyone for all the hard work and dedication this past season. Most importantly a big thank you to all the outgoing board members. I have enjoyed working with you the past few years. Second, I would like to welcome all the new board members. I look forward to working with you and the new ideas you will bring to our association. It was great to see the number of people interested in getting involved on the board. In closing, I would just like to remind everyone that our board meetings will be posted on the new website. Please feel free to attend if you have any ideas on how to make our association even better.

Thanks again,

Jim Herlofsky

boys’ high school coach and new mite director
I am writing to all mite, 8u, and 10u parents. Tony Schmid has reserved 10.5 hours of ice time for your sons and daughters. I would encourage you to have your son/daughter come to these ice times to continue to build on the skills, comradery and fun that they developed this past winter. The ice time will be held at Andover Community Center located off of Hanson Blvd(County Road 78) and Crosstown Blvd. The cost of the summer skating is $60.00 for skaters and $30.00 for Goalies. If you have any questions contact Tony at (763)753-4565. Other youth coaches are encouraged to contact Tony as well if they are interested in helping out. Hope you have a great summer and we’ll see you around the rink.

Puck News now published electronically
If you are reading this, you already are aware that the St. Francis Youth Hockey Puck News is now being published electronically and will be sent to all members via email.  The board hopes that this will get information to its members more quickly and will save money in postage and paper.
During the hockey season, teams will be able to post information, publish pictures and print stories about its players and performance.  Details on this option will be communicated to team managers next season.
Of course, the new format of the Puck News causes problems for those members who do not have email or for those whose emails we do not have.  We are asking for help in this area.  We request that all previous team managers forward this email on to all of the players’ families of last year’s teams.  For those without email, the association is considering whether to make a paper product available.
If you have received this publication through the forwarding of another, you can email dan.king@mpls.k12.mn.us to add your email address to the group email list.  If you have received this publication and would like to have your email removed from the list, please email the above address and indicate so.  Thanks to all of you for your help and patience in this matter
A letter from the Vice President
Dear Members,

What a great season!  I had an absolute riot.  The Mites were so much fun to work with.  The amazing thing is watching the players progress with their skills from practice to practice.  You can tell the players are getting better with each practice just by watching the coaches huff and puff during a game of freeze tag.  I’m excited about the numbers we have at the Mite level.  Each year our numbers increase.  We’re on the right track, the future looks pretty bright.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the coaches, managers, and volunteers from all the age groups that made this an exciting year for all the players.  I think its important that all of you know that all your efforts and hard work to make this a better association have not gone unnoticed.  So on behalf of all the players, parents, and board members, “Thanks” to each of you for a great job.

I would also like to take this opportunity to invite each one of you to the board meetings held the first Tuesday of each month at the ice arena beginning at 7:00pm.  We need your help and your input.  Our association is growing as well as our communities.  We need more people to get involved, share your ideas, and your time.  We have a lot to do before the first registration coming up in August.

I am still needing volunteers to help with the meat raffle at Hunters Inn on Fridays and Saturdays at 5:30pm.  It’s easy work and fun.  For each hour worked we’ll deduct $10.00 from your ice bill.  If your interested just give me a call at home 434-2221, or come up to Hunters on those days and we’ll get you trained in.

The turnout at the banquet was slightly lower than usual due to the difficulty in arranging the date and time.  Board members apologize for the short notice and hope coaches and managers will help get recognition medals to players who were unable to attend the program.
